Translator Paula Haydar (assistant professor, Arabic; World Languages, Literatures and Cultures) will learn from one in every of her current publications, Jabbour Douaihy’s Firefly (Seagull Books, 2022), co-translated with Nadine Sinno.
Firefly is a searing portrait of the town of Beirut on the outbreak of the Lebanese Civil Conflict within the early Seventies, as seen by way of the eyes of its easy, but perplexing, protagonist, Nizam al-Alami.
