The Hope Faculty baseball staff dropped its sequence opener at Albion Faculty, 7-4, on Thursday.

The 2 groups are scheduled to play a doubleheader on Friday, April 21, at 1 p.m. at Boeve Stadium.

The Flying Dutchmen (14-15, 7-5 MIAA) stay in fourth place within the MIAA standings.

Hope scored all of its runs within the eighth inning after falling behind 7-0.

After Albion beginning pitcher Cole Giesige exited following seven shutout innings, the Flying Dutchmen despatched eight batters to the plate towards two reduction pitchers.

Junior middle fielder Robbie Stuursma (East Grand Rapids, Michigan / East Grand Rapids) opened the scoring with an RBI double. 

Again-to-back, one-out RBI singles from senior proper fielder Kainan Bayn (Zeeland, Michigan / Zeeland East) and junior first baseman Owen Krizan (Grand Haven, Michigan / Grand Haven) adopted.

Senior designated hitter Spencer Cable (Hudsonville, Michigan / Hudsonville) then knocked in Bayn with a single. Hope stranded a batter at third to finish the eighth in addition to junior shortstop Devin Meeuwsen (Rockford, Michigan / Grand Rapids Christian) within the ninth after he led off with a double.

Albion (7-22, 3-9 MIAA) totaled 11 hits, together with seven towards dropping pitcher Shane Hykin (Ada, Michigan / Forest Hills Northern) in 3 ? innings. Hykin suffered his first lack of the season and dropped to 4-1.

The Britons broke open the sport with a three-run fourth — after unearned — that propelled them to a 6-0 lead.

Giesge (3-3) struck out 13 Hope batters and yielded solely two hits in seven innings on the mound. The left-hander walked simply two.
