As I write this, it’s a stunning day in central Indiana. The solar is shining, birds are singing and no less than for now, it appears that evidently winter has been kicked to the curb. For many of us, this can be a blessed season.
Yearly, Easter unfolds and crops and bushes have leaves and blooms once more. We as Christians have fun that our God is a God of recent beginnings. That is certainly one of my favourite issues about God. He demonstrates His love and goodness by providing us new life from season to season.
I’m so grateful that “His mercies are new each morning! Nice is His faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:23).
Just lately I went to the New Citadel Correctional Facility to go to my good friend Greg.
Over the previous six years or so, I’ve been blessed to get to know this man. Greg’s life might be described as an extended winter. He has spent the overwhelming majority of his life locked up. His crimes have been many, and he could be the primary to say he deserves the 50-year sentence he acquired.
Within the jail, one thing profound occurred to Greg. God broke his coronary heart and saved his soul. The God of recent life and second possibilities confirmed up in superb methods. Whereas his circumstances remained bleak like a dreary winter season, his soul emerged into the springtime of life.
With few individuals in his life to assist him develop, the Holy Spirit turned His companion. He immersed himself within the research of God’s Phrase and prayer. The outcomes have been life-changing.
As we met just lately, he shared excellent news that resulting from his good conduct and dealing to earn some credit, his launch date has been moved as much as the summer season of 2024. After extra that 20 years incarcerated, God has not solely modified his current, however He has modified his future. What a tremendous God!
As Greg and I celebrated his upcoming freedom, he remarked. “It’s unusual that the liberty present in Jesus Christ is offered to me even on this jail. God is ready to launch the captives. However I can’t consider that there’s coming a day sooner or later when I’ll, for the primary time in my life, stroll free each in Christ and on this planet.”
Greg has requested that when he will get out subsequent 12 months if I’d be prepared to select him up and take him out for a cheeseburger. I’m so trying ahead to that day.
Within the aftermath of my go to with Greg, I’ve been serious about my life and the lives of so many round me. Our winters haven’t been practically as harsh as Greg’s. And our blessings have usually made us stroll unaware of the superb goodness of God. We merely change into proof against the blessed life we’ve been given.
This spring, I need to problem you to stroll in gratitude no matter your circumstance.
Sure, seasons of winter come. However, due to God’s nice love, they don’t final eternally. Reward God! Amen.
